Rockin' Dopsie and the Zydeco Twisters
"When Rockin' Dopsie, Sr. unexpectedly passed away in 1993, the Dopsie family vowed to keep his memory alive, mainly in the incarnation of this band, Rockin' Dopsie, Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters. In doing so, it's become its own phenomenon. No other zydeco band has ever been fronted by a washboard player. It's usually the accordionist, and it's also a safe bet that there's never been such a flamboyant personality as Rockin' Dopsie, Jr., who can turn a house upside down on a moment's notice."
The Marc Stone Band
New York born, New Orleans trained Roots and Blues slide guitarist, songwriter and vocalist Marc Stone worked his way up from the streets of the French Quarter and the feet of the masters to become a prominent presence on the Crescent City scene. His energized performances with his band, solo/acoustic or with his over-the-top all-star projects, are a staple at clubs and festivals in New Orleans and have brought him to over 20 countries worldwide. Stone's extensive song book criss crosses the highways and side roads of American music, while his originals cut their own path with a unique, fiery blend of Roots styles informed by two decades of backing icons and architects of Rock & Roll, New Orleans Rhythm & Blues, Funk, Soul and Zydeco.
Off stage Stone keeps the music flowing as host of the "Soul Serenade" on New Orleans' beloved Jazz and Heritage station WWOZ 90.7-fm. A lifetime of performing in the US and over a decade of touring in Europe have earned him loyal fans on both sides of the Atlantic.
